Ambassador Srikumar Menon is a retired career diplomat with extensive experience in government administration, international trade, and economic relations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from Delhi University, alongside a strong background in political science and international relations.
Diplomatic career
During his distinguished career in the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), he served as Ambassador of India to the Republic of South Sudan (2015–2018) and later as Ambassador of India to the Republic of Angola (2018–2019), with concurrent accreditation to São Tomé & Príncipe. His diplomatic postings over the years spanned Indian missions in Muscat (Oman), Tehran (Iran), Khartoum (Sudan), Singapore, Warsaw (Poland), and The Hague (Netherlands), along with a special assignment in Baghdad (Iraq). From 2010 to 2013, he represented the Indian Mission at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague. Earlier in his career, he held key positions at the Ministry of External Affairs headquarters in New Delhi, including on the UK and Netherlands desk in the Europe-West Division.
Since retirement
Since retiring from the Foreign Service in November 2019, Ambassador Menon has remained active in the strategic and diplomatic community, serving as a Senior Advisor and Consultant to Indian corporates and as a Patron supporting charitable organizations. He brings deep expertise in African affairs, conflict resolution, and multilateral diplomacy to his advisory roles.
